Get Apple AirPods for Cheap With 4 Deal Websites

After early ridicule, Apple AirPods have become an increasingly common sight.

Unfortunately, Apple’s wireless headphones don’t come cheap. If you buy them directly via the Apple website, you can expect to pay $ 159 for a set with a wired charging case and $ 199 for AirPods with a wireless charging case.

So, where you can find cheap Apple AirPods? Keep reading to find out.

1. Mac of All Trades

airpods mac of all trades stock

Mac of all Trades is an online store that specializes in selling refurbished Apple hardware. The store comes with a strong reputation. Since its founding back in 1995, it has become one of the most popular places to buy second-hand Macs.

Because Mac of All Trades can only sell what it has in stock at a given moment, the availability of refurbished AirPods can fluctuate. Demand is high; when some do become available, they quickly sell out. There are often times when the site has none in stock.

As per the company’s FAQ page:

“The current stock count of each model is noted in its listing and updates real-time.”

However, if you’re not in a rush to get your hands on a pair, it makes sense to bide your time and watch the site for a couple of weeks. When AirPods are available on Mac of All Trades, the prices are often unbeatable. The many discounts mean the store usually is cheaper than Apple’s refurbished hardware store.

All the products you buy from Mac of All Trades come with a 90-day warranty. There’s also a 14-day guaranteed refund period.

2. Amazon

Apple AirPods Apple AirPods Buy Now On Amazon $ 139.99

If you’d prefer to buy a pair of new Apple AirPods, Amazon is an essential store to keep your eye on.

As is often the case on Amazon, you can pick up a good deal if you’re happy to wait. There are often flash discounts that last for a few days, as well as the big annual events like Black Friday and Prime Day.

To underscore the difficulty of landing yourself Apple AirPods for cheap, even the mighty Amazon is often out of stock on the latest model.

The best way to maximize your chances of getting Apple AirPods for the lowest price is to subscribe to Prime. You’ll get access to sales exclusively available to Prime members, along with free shipping.

Remember, if you’re a student, you can join the Prime Student plan. It offers significant additional savings.

3. Newegg

We’re big fans of Newegg, so it won’t surprise you to to learn that the company offers perhaps the best selection of cheap Apple AirPods.

Several new and refurbished Apple AirPods are available. There are listings for both the latest and previous- generation models. Prices can fluctuate on a site like Newegg, but at the time of writing, the cheapest Apple AirPods available were a refurbished pair for $ 139. The most expensive was in excess of $ 200.

If you’ve never bought on Newegg before, you’ve got nothing to worry about. The site offers a full return policy for items it ships and has a Marketplace Guarantee for third-party sellers.

4. Best Buy

best buy airpods search store

Best Buy is another store that offers both new and refurbished Apple AirPods; it occasionally offers substantial discounts too. It’s also the only shop on this list that has a physical presence. If you go to your local Best Buy store, you might be able to find a deal that’s not available on the web.

At of this writing, the prices on the refurbished models vary between $ 155 and $ 200, depending on the condition and the generation.

New AirPods on Best Buy’s website are the regular price. Again, keep your eyes peeled for cheaper AirPods on Black Friday.

Don’t Forget to Look for Coupon Codes

Before you convince yourself that you’ve found the cheapest AirPods, you should do a quick scan on various coupon sites to see if you can bag yourself an additional few dollars of discount.

A couple of coupon sites worth checking out are:

  • RetailMeNot: Has savings for several Apple products across a number of websites. There are even some savings available for Apple’s official online store.
  • SlickDeals: Lets you search by product and by store, giving you the best possible chance to find yourself a bargain.

Both RetailMeNot and SlickDeals will apply your discount at checkout—just make sure you start your hunt by clicking on the appropriate link on the sites’ homepages. And remember to be smart in your search. For example, you might be able to find a discount coupon for a store that stocks Apple AirPods, rather than for the specific product itself.

Apple AirPods Cheap Alternatives

Apple products are expensive. If you’ve checked out a few of the stores we’ve talked about, you’ll quickly see that huge discounts on AirPods are almost non-existent. Perhaps it’s worth checking out some cheap alternatives to Apple AirPods instead.

Here are our top three picks:

Samsung Galaxy Buds: The most significant difference between the Samsung Galaxy Buds and AirPods is the way they sound; the Galaxy Buds have in-ear noise cancellation to block out external noise.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Samsung Galaxy Buds Buy Now On Amazon $ 125.99

Soundcore Anker Liberty Air: A set of Soundcore Anker Liberty Air buds are even cheaper than the Galaxy Buds. They offer five hours of battery life and come with three different-sized ear tips.

Soundcore Wireless Earphones Soundcore Wireless Earphones Buy Now On Amazon $ 79.00

Treblab X5: The best budget AirPod alternative is the Treblab X5. These wireless earphones are specifically for use when exercising. The clever hook and lightweight design mean they won’t fall out of your ear, even during vigorous movement.

Treblab X5 Wireless Earbuds Treblab X5 Wireless Earbuds Buy Now On Amazon $ 64.97

Where to Buy Cheap AirPods

So after all this, where is the best place to find cheap Apple AirPods?

Sadly, there’s no right answer. The high demand means that savings are hard to find. The only way to score yourself a great deal is to be patient and monitor all the sites in tandem. If you see a deal that looks unusually good, grab it while you can.

Once you score some AirPods, have a look at our AirPods tips to get even more out of them.

WWDC 2019: Apple Reveals iPadOS for iPads

At WWDC 2019, Apple has announced a brand new operating system. Called iPadOS, this is specifically designed for iPads. While built on the same foundation as iOS, iPadOS introduces features designed to make better use of the iPad hardware.

Until now, iOS has powered iPhones and iPads. However, in the future, while iOS will continue to power your iPhone, your iPad will have its own dedicated operating system. Allowing Apple to make your iPad work even better than ever.

The Best New iPadOS Features

Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering, said, “iPadOS delivers exciting features, including a new Home screen with widgets, more powerful multitasking and new tools that make using Apple Pencil even more natural.”

The new Home screen makes use of the larger screen, showing more apps on each page. You’ll also be able to access widgets more quickly. Updates to Split View and Slide Over mean iPad owners will be able to work with multiple files and documents simultaneously.

There’s better support for the Apple Pencil too, with Apple Pencil integrated into iPadOS. Meanwhile, improvements to the Files app adds iCloud Drive support for folder sharing, support for external drives, and Quick Actions designed to make you more productive.

The new iPadOS also introduces desktop-class browsing with Safari, improved text editing with new gestures, a floating keyboard making one-handed typing easier, custom fonts to help you create beautiful documents, and a dark mode for working in low-light conditions.

You can read more about all of the features coming to iPadOS on the Apple Newsroom. You have plenty of time to get your head around the changes, as Apple isn’t releasing iPadOS until the fall. It will then be available as a free software update.

Helping You Do More With Your iPad

Apple has clearly put a lot of thought into iPadOS. OK, so it doesn’t offer anything revolutionary over iOS, but it should help iPad owners do more with their devices. Which, given how many people use iPads for productive purposes, is good enough.

If you haven’t yet taken the plunge and purchased an iPad, perhaps iPadOS is the push you need. In which case, you should read our iPad buying guide. After all, there are so many different options available that choosing one can be difficult.

WWDC 2019: Apple Finally Kills Off iTunes

Apple iTunes is dead. Long live Apple Music, Apple TV, and Apple Podcasts. That’s right, after 18 years of service, Apple is killing iTunes off. Finally. Much to the relief of anyone who has struggled to get to grips with the bloated mess we call iTunes.

A Brief History of Apple iTunes

In 2001, Apple launched iTunes, which it described at the time as “the world’s best and easiest to use jukebox software.” It was created to help Mac users create and manage their music library, and it did exactly that. And at the time it was revolutionary.

Apple built iTunes to be a one-stop-shop for your entertainment needs. Unfortunately, that meant iTunes became increasingly bloated as people’s digital habits evolved. And as iTunes became more bloated it became less usable. Hence Apple’s decision to kill iTunes.

The End Is Nigh for Apple iTunes

Apple announced the end is nigh for iTunes at WWDC 2019. Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering, actually cracked a funny by suggesting Apple was going to add even more bloat to this already bloated piece of software.

Thankfully, he was joking, and Apple is actually splitting iTunes up into three separate apps. These being Apple Music, Apple TV, and Apple Podcasts. These are all new apps built from scratch, so they look and feel like they’re from 2019 rather than 2001.

Apple Music will be solely focused on music, be based on iTunes, and boast some of its best features. You’ll be able to access your own library of music, or (if you pay for a subscription) discover the millions of songs available to stream.

Apple TV will be the new home for your movies, TV shows, and (when it launches) Apple TV+. You’ll be able to watch all of your content in the app, and pick up where you left off across your devices. On Mac, the Apple TV app will also support 4K content.

Apple Podcasts will bring “700,000 of the best entertainment, comedy, news, and sports shows” to your Mac. You’ll be able to search by podcasts “by title, topic, guest, host, and more,” and subscribe to specific shows to be notified about new episodes.

Goodbye and Good Riddance to iTunes

The new apps will arrive as part of Catalina, the next version of macOS. Catalina will be released this fall, which gives you just a few months left to put up with use iTunes. So, in the meantime, here’s how to see everything you’ve ever purchased on iTunes.

The Best Smart Watch Phone for Apple and Android Users

Smartwatches offer a convenient companion to your smartphone. But what if you want to use your smartwatch throughout the day without carrying your phone? Then you need a smart watch phone.

While many smartwatches require a connection to your phone, you’ll find some standalone smartwatches that can operate independently thanks to cellular support. A watch phone can’t fully replace your phone, but they’re great for those who are always on-the-go. They can also reduce the temptation to use your phone too often.

Here are the best phone watches you can use on their own.

Before You Buy a Standalone Smartwatch

Buying a smart watch phone sounds exciting, but before you make a purchase, you should be aware of how they work. Because they connect to cellular data, like your phone, your carrier has to activate and link them to your account.

This depends on your carrier, but almost always results in additional charges. Most carriers charge a fee for the initial activation, plus a monthly charge for having the device on your plan.

Be aware of this before you decide whether a phone watch is right for you. If you don’t plan to use the LTE functionality all the time, you’re probably better off sticking to the standard model to cut down on cost.

One other note: we’re sticking to only phone watches that include cellular support. While some smartwatches do offer Wi-Fi connectivity independent of your phone, this is less useful because you’re unlikely to stay within range of one Wi-Fi network while out and about.

1. Apple Watch Series 4 (and 3)

Apple Watch Series 4 (GPS + Cellular, 40mm) Apple Watch Series 4 (GPS + Cellular, 40mm) Buy Now On Amazon $ 449.99

The Apple Watch Series 4 is unsurprisingly the best phone watch for iPhone users. Both the Series 4 and Series 3 models are available with cellular support. This allows you to make calls, send and receive text messages, stream from Apple Music, get directions, receive notifications, and more—all without your phone.

Of course, you also get all the features of the Apple Watch. This includes a growing list of compatible apps, customizable watch faces, Apple Pay, and much more. If you don’t need the latest and greatest, you can save some money by getting an Apple Watch Series 3 instead.

While it’s a great choice for the Apple faithful, Android users should of course look elsewhere.

These watches include eSIM technology, which copies the SIM info from your phone. You’ll need an iPhone 6 or newer to set it up, which you can do with Apple’s help page on Watch cellular setup.

See our Apple Watch Series 4 review for more information.

2. Samsung Galaxy Watch

Samsung Galaxy Watch (42mm, LTE) Samsung Galaxy Watch (42mm, LTE) Buy Now On Amazon $ 239.44

The Galaxy Watch is Samsung’s newest smart phone watch at the time of writing. This option is probably the best Android watch phone since the Apple Watch is a no-go on Google’s platform.

With the Galaxy Watch, you get standard smartwatch features like sleep tracking, guided meditation, and workout information. Samsung claims the battery on the smaller model will last for up to three or four days. It’s also built to last, thanks to Gorilla Glass DX+ and IP68 water resistance.

You’ll find a comparable set of cell phone watch features as the Apple Watch. You can call and text, stream music, and get notifications on your watch no matter where you are. If you shop somewhere that takes Samsung Pay, you can even pay with your watch over LTE.

Note that this watch runs Tizen OS instead of Google’s Wear OS.

3. Samsung Gear S3

Samsung Gear S3 Frontier (46mm, AT&T 4G) Samsung Gear S3 Frontier (46mm, AT&T 4G) Buy Now On Amazon $ 181.28

Samsung still sells the Gear S3, which is the predecessor to the Galaxy Watch. It’s similar to the newer model, making it a decent way to get a watch phone without spending a lot.

The older device carries a similar feature set to its successor, despite having a weaker processor, less RAM, and fewer exercise options. The Gear S3 also suffers in the waterproofing department. While the Galaxy Watch is built for swimming, the Gear S3 is only made to survive a drop in water.

Both have a rotating bezel and offer LTE support for calls, texts, notifications, and Samsung Pay purchases. In effect, paying more for the newer model gets you better battery life and a few extra bells and whistles, but the S3 is still a respectable device.

If you opt for this, make sure you buy the model that’s compatible with your carrier. Samsung sells several different versions for the different companies.

4. LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition

LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition (LTE , Verizon) LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition (LTE , Verizon) Buy Now On Amazon

The Watch Urbane 2nd Edition is a few years old, but it’s still available as one of LG’s two standalone smartwatch offerings.

This device features a classy design with three physical buttons and a full-circle P-OLED display. It’s IP67 resistant, which means it will survive a dunk in water but isn’t meant for swimming.

It has the usual smart watch phone features we’ve mentioned in the above models, including calling, texting, and music streaming thanks to LTE. You can also store music on the watch to listen locally. The device also supports health tracking, as well as “OK Google” for getting help with your voice.

Unlike Samsung’s offerings, LG’s smartwatch includes the standard Wear OS. You can pick up the LG Watch Urbane in models for both Verizon and AT&T, so check to make sure you choose the right one.

5. LG Watch Sport

LG Watch Sport (AT&T) LG Watch Sport (AT&T) Buy Now On Amazon

LG’s Watch Sport is another older device, but the company still sells it. It’s notable for being one of the first smartwatches with Android Wear 2.0 and LTE connectivity.

It has a crisp screen optimized for bright light outside, and features the power of Wear OS. This includes Google Assistant support and Google Pay for easy purchases.

Unfortunately, this watch is on the bulkier side and cellular service is only available on AT&T. But if those don’t bother you, this is a solid all-around standalone smartwatch despite its age.

Can a Smart Watch Replace Your Phone?

We’ve looked at five solid smart phone watches to choose from. Unfortunately, this market isn’t as exciting as it could be. Only the Apple Watch S4 and Galaxy Watch are recent devices; many major manufacturers haven’t come out with a standalone smartwatch yet.

This is because cellular smartwatches aren’t quite ready for prime time. Aside from the cost of the device, you also have to pay your wireless carrier a fee to have it on your account. It’s costly and feels like a penalty just for using a new device.

Additionally, battery life while using cellular data is quite poor. The Apple Watch only lasts for around an hour of calling on LTE before its battery dies.

However, if you don’t mind the cost and often need to stay in touch without your phone nearby, it might be worth dealing with these drawbacks. Hopefully, smartwatch technology improves in the near future so we can enjoy a better standalone smartwatch experience.

Forgot Your Apple ID or iCloud Password? 6 Ways to Reset It

Your Apple ID is the account you use to access Apple services like the App Store, Apple Music, iCloud, iMessage, and more. Although this ID looks like a simple username and password, its integration with the Apple ecosystem goes much deeper.

While you might hear both the iCloud and Apple ID terms used, technically they’re the same. What happens when you forget your Apple ID password? Thankfully, there is no need to panic. We’ll show you some ways to reset the password associated with your Apple ID.

Note: The instructions below are based on an iPad running iOS 12.1.4 and macOS 10.13.6 High Sierra.

If You Have Two-Factor Authentication Enabled

These days, it seems every website you visit tries to encourage you to use two-factor authentication. With 2FA, you can access your account only through devices you trust, like your iPhone.

When you sign into a new device for the first time, it requires two pieces of information: your password and the six-digit verification code shown on your trusted device.

By entering the code, you trust the new device. You won’t need a verification code again unless you sign out, reset the device, or if you’ve recently changed your password. And on iOS 11.3 or later, you might not need to enter the code. Your trusted phone number will automatically verify in the background.

If you have 2FA enabled for your Apple ID, you can reset your iCloud password from any trusted device.

1. Reset Your iCloud Password on an iPhone or iPad

Before proceeding, ensure that your device has iOS 10 or later. Then open the Settings app. Tap [Your Name] > Password & Security, then Change password.

go to change password screen in iOS

Next, type in the passcode you use to unlock your device. On the Change Password screen that appears, enter a new password in both fields and tap Change.

Now you can enter this new Apple ID password on all other devices.

type in the new password in both fields

2. Reset Your Apple ID Password on a Mac

Go to Apple menu > System Preferences, then click iCloud.

open icloud in system preferences

Here, click Account Details.

open account details in iCloud

On the resulting window, open the Security tab.

click the security tab in account details

Now click the Change Password button. You’ll need to enter the password for your Mac’s admin account. From the resulting box, enter a new password and re-enter it in the Verify field.

Once you’re satisfied, click Change. You’ve successfully reset your iCloud password and can use it on your other devices.

enter the new password in iCloud for Mac

3. Reset Your Apple ID Password on the Apple ID Website

Go to Apple’s iForgot website. Enter your Apple ID and click Continue.

visit the iforgort apple id website

Enter the phone number that you use with your Apple ID. Click Continue again. Now a message with instructions will appear on all your trusted devices. Click or tap Allow in the Reset Password message.

tap allow to reset password in trusted device

Enter your iOS passcode or macOS admin password and click Continue. Then type in your new password and then re-enter it in Verify field. Click Change or tap Next. You’ve just reset your Apple ID password.

reset your password through apple forgot website

4. Reset Your iCloud Password via the Find My iPhone app

This method works by using the Find My iPhone app on a device not associated with your Apple ID account. You’ll need to borrow a friend or family member’s iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch and follow these steps.

Open the Find My iPhone app. When a sign-in screen appears, erase the owner’s Apple ID details. If necessary, click or tap Sign Out.

use find my iphone app to reset password

On the login screen, select Forgot Apple ID or Password, then follow the onscreen steps. Once you’ve changed your password, don’t forget to sign out from the owner’s device.

You can now re-enter your iCloud password on your other devices. Speaking of Find My iPhone, make sure you know how to locate your iPhone if it gets lost.

If You Use Two-Step Verification

Before two-factor authentication, Apple offered two-step verification. With this, Apple sends a short numeric code using the Find My iPhone system in iOS and via a text message to other devices. Macs can’t receive these codes.

This old system also relies on a provided recovery code to keep your from getting locked out. If your account gets locked for some reason and you lose the recovery code, you might never regain access.

Two-step verification is available for people:

  • Who doesn’t want to or can’t update to iOS 9 or OS X El Capitan for some reason.
  • Using older Apple devices that no longer receive updates (meaning they’re stuck on iOS 8 or OS X Yosemite).

2FA is available as long as you have at least one device with iOS 9 or later, or OS X El Capitan or later. When you upgrade to iOS 11 or later, or macOS High Sierra or later, your device security settings will automatically update to two-factor authentication.

5. Reset Your iCloud Password With Two-Step Verification Enabled

To reset an Apple ID protected with two-step verification, you need to have a recovery key and a trusted device or phone number. Then follow these steps:

  1. Go to Apple’s iForgot website.
  2. Enter your Apple ID and click Continue.
  3. Select the option to reset your password and hit Continue again.
  4. Type in your recovery code and choose Continue once more. This is a 14 character-long code generated when you set up two-step verification.
  5. Next, select a trusted device to receive a confirmation code.
  6. Enter the confirmation code.
  7. Select a new password, then click Reset Password.

As per the Apple support document on resetting a two-step password, you at least need two of these three items to sign in successfully. One is your Apple ID password, the second is a trusted device, and the third is your recovery key.

If you’ve lost any two of these items, you can’t sign in or regain access to your account. You’re unfortunately out of options, and thus have to create a new Apple ID.

6. How to Reset a Password-Only iCloud Account

Forgot your iCloud password and don’t use two-step or two-factor authentication on your Apple ID account? You can still reset your password using Apple’s iForgot website. Because you don’t have any of these additional security measures, you can reset your password via email or with security questions, if you still have those set up.

After you’ve reset your Apple ID password, you should seriously consider adding additional security to your Apple account. There’s no reason to use only password protection when two-factor authentication provides vastly superior security.

Thankfully, this is easy to set up. Follow our guide on securing your Apple account with two-factor authentication.

Add More Self-Recovery Information for the Future

If you lose a device or a password, instead of having to convince someone at Apple that you’re the legitimate owner, you can quickly recover your account by ensuring it has extra recovery information. To make your life much easier if you ever forget your iCloud password again, sign into your Apple ID and take these simple steps:

  • Include two or more “reachable at” addresses. Apple uses them in assisted account recovery.
  • Add one more backup trusted phone number. For example, you can add the phone number for your partner or parents as a backup.
  • If you use two-step verification, print the recovery code and keep it in a secured place.

Don’t Forget: Use a Password Manager

Apple gives you a lot of methods to reset your Apple ID or iCloud password. Which to use depends on how your account is set up. Once you change your password, we highly recommend you use a password manager for storing passwords. That way, you don’t have to remember passwords for every online account. You just need to remember one master password.

Along with 2FA, this is one of the best practices for locking down your online accounts. If you’re having trouble deciding which password manager you should use, find out which password manager fits your needs.

The Best Smartphone Camera: Google Pixel, Apple iPhone, OnePlus, and More

These days, high-quality photography is no longer the preserve of those with expensive DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. With a combination of smart software and the latest hardware, smartphones can now give the traditional cameras a run for their money.

If you love taking pictures, here are the best smartphones with great cameras that you can buy right now.

1. Google Pixel 3

Google Pixel 3 Google Pixel 3 Buy Now On Amazon $ 699.00

Since their initial launch, it has been widely acknowledged that Google’s Pixel range of Android smartphones has some of the best cameras around. The Google Pixel 3 is no different. However, on paper, it might not seem like it. The Pixel 3 has a single 12MP, f/1.8 aperture camera.

But coupled with Google’s software, that mid-range hardware turns into something spectacular. This is particularly evident when using the HDR+ mode. It gives the Pixel 3 photos an incredible dynamic range that makes them pop, while still retaining their natural colors. This mode technically takes multiple photos and then blends them to create the optimum exposure level.

The Pixel’s Night Sight mode lets you take well-lit night time photos without using the flash. The difference between a regular picture and a Night Sight picture is striking. It captures and enhances details that other cameras wouldn’t even pick up.

2. iPhone XS

iPhone XS iPhone XS Buy Now On Amazon $ 999.99

The iPhone XS has a dual camera system; one wide-angle and one telephoto lens. Apple has also included a Smart HDR mode, similar to Google’s HDR+ on the Pixel.

The smartphone maintains the iPhone’s reputation as the best point-and-shoot camera. It sticks to Apple’s it-just-works design philosophy, so taking a photo is as simple as tapping the shutter button.

The iPhone XS takes reasonable shots in portrait mode, though it can struggle in low-lighting conditions. But give it enough natural light, and your photos will shine.

3. OnePlus 6T

OnePlus 6T OnePlus 6T Buy Now On Amazon $ 637.95

If you’re a camera enthusiast with a mid-range budget, the OnePlus 6T is a good option for you. It sports a 16MP primary sensor and a 20MP secondary camera for digital zooming along with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS). Just like with the Pixel, the 6T uses software to enhance photos taken in portrait mode.

The camera opens without delay and has similarly fast autofocus as well. The HDR mode isn’t comparable to the Google Pixel, or even the iPhone XS, but it still represents colors well and has a wide dynamic range.

The OnePlus 6T’s low-light performance is quite good and certainly better than the iPhone XS. Outdoor scenes are balanced. But outdoor and zoomed-in shots can be noisy. You can capture 4K video at 60 fps. The 6T also comes with a Pro camera mode. If you’re familiar with manual controls, there are options for ISO, focus, and exposure.

4. iPhone XR

iPhone XR iPhone XR Buy Now On Amazon $ 749.00

The wide-angle camera in the iPhone XR is similar to that found in the iPhone XS. Where the two devices differ is in their implementation of portrait mode and optical zoom. However, the iPhone XR is substantially cheaper than the XS. So, if you can get by without those features, then you could save yourself money.

The 12MP wide-angle camera supports Apple’s Smart HDR mode. Plus, it simulates portrait mode shots using a single camera, in a similar way to Google’s Pixel phones. However good the implementation is, though, it’ll never quite reach the same standard found on the XS.

That said, the iPhone XR is a good value device that shares image quality, photo-taking experience, and 4K video recording with its more expensive sibling.

5. Huawei Mate 20 Pro

Huawei Mate 20 Pro Huawei Mate 20 Pro Buy Now On Amazon $ 788.95

Huawei’s Mate 20 Pro packs a three camera configuration on the rear; a primary 40MP wide-angle lens at f/1.8, a 20MP ultra-wide lens at f/2.2 aperture, and an 8MP telephoto lens at f/2.4. Plus, it comes with Huawei’s AI image stabilization and 4K video recording at 30 fps.

The Mate 20 Pro performs well in daylight conditions, but despite its 40MP sensor, it struggles to compare to the Pixel and Google’s camera software experience.

The camera is quite versatile; the images are rich in detail, and the photos are well exposed. Thanks to the high-resolution sensors, the Mate 20 Pro captures more details in high-contrast settings. If taking photos in low light is a constant struggle for you, then you’ll be pleased by the camera’s Night Mode.

6. Moto G6 Plus

Moto G6 Plus Moto G6 Plus Buy Now On Amazon $ 230.53

A high-performance smartphone camera usually comes at a cost, but not with the Moto G6 Plus. This budget-friendly device features an octa-core processor, full HD screen, 4GB of RAM, and a surprisingly good camera.

The phone has a 12MP primary lens, along with a 5MP depth sensor. Photos taken outdoors are reasonable, even if the dynamic range is a bit limited. Compared to the crisp, detailed images you’ll get from many of the phones above, the Moto G6 Plus does occasionally allow noise to slip into your photos.

However. the G6 Plus is substantially cheaper than the others in this list too. Given that, its performance actually exceeds expectations at this price point. The low-light photos come out well, and HDR mode helps adjust the contrast and makes the colors pop.

The Best Smartphone Camera for You

The smartphones included on this list range from flagship devices, all the way to budget phones. In many cases, the more expensive devices do indeed perform the best and will result in the best looking, highest quality images. However, many regard the Google Pixel 3 as the best smartphone camera you can buy today.

Most flagship devices now come equipped with multiple cameras. Whether you’re interested in a smartphone that has two, three, or even four cameras, you may be wondering why your phone needs more than one camera. Ultimately, the best smartphone camera for you will be the one that suits your needs and budget.
