Amazon Delivery Drivers May Soon Assemble Your Furniture Too

Metaverse News

We live in a time where it’s basically impossible to discuss online retail without mentioning Amazon. The shopping giant is miles ahead of the game when it comes to online retail, as evidenced by Amazon Prime’s 200 million subscribers.

Doesn’t look like Amazon will loosen its grip on its lead, either. Apparently, the world’s largest online retailer is now also looking into adding an assembly service.

Will Amazon Delivery Soon Offer to Build Your Furniture?

According to Bloomberg, Amazon is testing out a premium service that gives customers the option to have their new furniture or appliances assembled once they arrive.

Amazon is planning to introduce the service in Virginia and two other markets, said one of the people, who requested anonymity to discuss an internal matter. The company currently offers scheduled delivery of big items—like bunk beds and treadmills—to a particular room in a shopper’s home.

If Amazon made this feature widely available, it would easily cause trouble for popular online furniture retailers like IKEA, Wayfair, Best Buy, Home Depot, etc. that all offer similar services. Especially since Amazon Prime Day might be in June again this year.

Amazon Continues to Add to Its Convenience

It’s unclear as to whether the assembly service would be an additional cost on top of Amazon Prime membership, or if it would be complementary or discounted for Prime members. Bloomberg says Amazon declined to make any comments.
