Amazon is now rolling out a new design for Fire TV. It’s the biggest update to the Fire TV experience since its launch, with the aim to make it more personal, faster, and easier to use.
When Will You Get the New Fire TV Experience?
As announced on the Amazon Fire TV blog, the new Fire TV experience has begun rolling out.
It will first be available to download on the Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Stick Lite. All other devices will receive the update in early 2021. Not all users will get the update at the same time and Amazon hasn’t specified a timeframe.
The redesign hosts a number of features which aim to make your experience of the platform quicker and easier.
Amazon has also launched a new Fire TV page that details the changes and answers questions about where existing features have moved to.
New Streaming Profiles
First, new personalized streaming profiles are available. Most other streaming platforms like Netflix and Disney+ already offer this, so it’s great to see Amazon catching up.
You can create up to six profiles that support personalized recommendations, viewing history, watch lists and more.
If you’re in the US, you can set up profiles for children with Amazon Kids. This restricts their access to family-friendly content.
Easily Accessible Content
There’s nothing worse than spending ages trawling through a streaming service trying to find something to watch.
Amazon hopes it has improved that with its new Find experience. With this, you can browse between movies, TV shows, sports, and free ad-supported content. You can then break that down further by filters like genre.
Home Screen Revamp
Finally, the main home screen has been completely revamped. It now acts a single destination to access your apps, channels, and what you use the most.
The tiled design allows you to scroll over apps to get a preview of the content, or hop directly into shows without navigating additional menus.
You can also use the home screen to head into Fire TV sections like Find, Live TV, and Library.
Set Up Your Amazon Fire TV Stick
Remember, this newly designed Fire TV isn’t necessarily available for you straight away. However, it will be in the coming months, so keep your eye out for any updates to download and install.
