LG’s Upcoming G8 ThinQ Has a Vibrating OLED for a Speaker

Metaverse News

LG has revealed some exciting new details about the upcoming G8 ThinQ flagship smartphone. The device will come with what the company calls “Crystal Sound OLED” technology, which essentially means that the screen vibrates to make sounds.

This was actually rumored about the LG G8 for a while now since some of the company’s OLED TVs feature the same technology.

What We Know About the LG G8

The key feature we’ve learned about today is the vibrating screen. Because the company is using this type of screen, we also know that this will be LG’s first flagship phone not to use an LCD screen, which is definitely a sign of direction smartphones are moving.

For louder applications, the device will two feature more traditional bottom-facing speakers that will be capable of pushing higher volumes.

LG’s quad DAC from recent flagship phones also returns, which, according to The Verge, means that there will be a headphone jack on the device, which is always a good thing.

The phone will also include LG’s “Boombox Speaker,” which allows the phone to produce relatively thumping bass when placed on a table.

The company has also confirmed that the new G8 will feature a front-facing 3D camera. The camera will feature a time-of-flight sensor, which will allow the phone’s front-facing camera to detect the distance between a sensor and an object. This means it could feature features that allow you to unlock the phone with your face.

When Will We Know More?

LG has been slowly trickling out information about the G8 ThinQ. The company even posted a photo of the device, leaving little to the imagination. In spite of that, the device hasn’t been officially debuted. However, the company is holding the Mobile World Congress event on February 24, 2019, and we expect all the other details of the phone to be available then.
