The Apple TV App Is Now Available on Roku

Metaverse News

Anyone who owns a Roku can now install the Apple TV app on their device. This will initially allow Roku fans to access their iTunes video library and subscribe to Apple TV channels. However, the big draw is Apple TV+, which is launching on November 1, 2019.

Apple Unveils Apple TV+

In March 2019, Apple unveiled Apple TV+. This is Apple’s new television streaming service which is set to host “exclusive original shows, movies and documentaries”. Apple has the actors and directors on board, so now it just needs subscribers.

In order to gain as many Apple TV+ subscribers as possible, Apple is making sure its streaming service is available on as many platforms as possible. This includes Roku, with the Apple TV app now available from the Roku Channel Store for the first time ever.

How to Use Apple TV on Your Roku

Roku announced the news in a press release detailing what the Apple TV app is, what Apple TV+ is going to be, and how this will impact Roku users. Scott Rosenberg, the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Platform Business at Roku, said:

“With the Apple TV app coming to Roku, our customers will enjoy an even broader range of exciting entertainment, including the highly anticipated Apple TV+ service […] and we’re looking forward to bringing this new option to Roku users.”

According to Roku, once users have installed the Apple TV app on their Roku device they’ll be able to “discover and watch movies, TV shows and more, including accessing their iTunes video library and subscribing to Apple TV channels directly on Roku devices.”

The big draw, however, is Apple TV+, which explains Apple’s timing. Apple TV+ is launching on November 1, 2019, and it will be available through the Apple TV app on Roku. At least it will be for those willing to pay the $ 4.99/month asking price.

How to Get More Out of Your Roku

The Apple TV app is available on most Roku devices, including Roku TV models, set-top boxes, and streaming sticks. However, it’s not compatible with some older devices. Apple TV+ will be available in a range of countries, including the US, the UK, Canada, and France.
