Your Google Nest Hub Will Book Dinner for You Soon

Metaverse News

It’s always a good idea to book a spot at your favorite restaurant ahead of time, but it can be challenging to get someone to answer the phone during busy times. Fortunately, you can soon tell your Google Nest Hub to make the arrangements for you with a single command.

Google Nest’s New Tricks

Google broke down all of the new features arriving on Nest Hubs over at Google Nest Help. There are a few exciting features nestled in the announcement, but of particular interest is this little nugget:

Soon, making a dinner reservation at a restaurant will get even easier using your Nest smart display. Just say, “Hey Google, book a table at Osteria Morini” or another supported restaurant. You can also tap on the ‘book a table there’ suggestion chip when viewing the details of a restaurant.

Unfortunately, Google doesn’t elaborate on the feature any further. So we have no idea when the update will drop or which restaurants will support this new feature from day one.

However, there will likely be a few more steps to the process than just asking for a booking. For instance, Google will surely need a time and date to book you in at the right time. If that happens, there has to be a way for Google to prod the restaurant and see if that time slot is free.

As such, the mechanics behind this feature will likely go a little further than a simple command. We’ll have to wait and see if Google will give us more details further down the line.

The announcement also has some other exciting features to check out. For example, Chromecast with Google TV owners can now watch SLING TV, and Guest Mode is now available in more languages.

Also, interestingly enough, Google has made it known that it hasn’t given up on its streaming service, Stadia. So starting on June 23, 2021, you can play Stadia games on your Chromecast with Google TV.

A Slew of Improvements for Google Nest

If you use your Google Nest to help you with your daily routine, it’s about to get a lot better. You’ll soon be able to use it to book your place at a restaurant, even if we’re unsure as to how it’ll work exactly.

There are likely plenty of commands hidden away in your Google Nest that you’ve never used before. For instance, did you know you can use it to broadcast a message to the whole household?
